Subject: 325.965/359.750 WBFM Footwork & ??? in N. Va. 4/1 At 2137z carrier popped up on 325.965 at S-4. Carrier also present on 359.750 in SSB mode at S-1. At 2137z on the 325 Orderwire heard Happy Day, (probably Primary NAOC), calling Footwork, (Waldorf). Happy Day told Footwork that it was the SHF Operator, and he was not getting any dial tones on his FDMA. Footwork told Happy Day that he would look into it. At 2139z heard phone call on 326.0095USB. At 2158z the 359 carrier was at S-4. At 2200z heard phone call on 326.0082USB. At 2202z heard phone call on 326.0080USB. At 2219z heard phone call on 326.0064USB. At 2220z the 325 carrier dropped, the 359 carrier was still present at S-1 in SSB mode. Earlier today I took my AOR AR8200 to work to monitor AF1's trip to Norfolk, Va. A carrier popped up on 267.615 at 1300z. The carrier dropped at 1644z. No Orderwire traffic was heard. At 1938z a carrier popped back up on 267.615 and dropped at 2016z. Again no Orderwire traffic was heard. I ran a tape for one hour this morning and my wife started a tape at 1920z so I could record the Orderwire traffic if any. I'll let you know if anything is on them. The reception at work on 267 is awful. There is a lot of RF "noise" present and the 8200 has an S reading of 3/4 to 5/8s full scale with no signal present. When the carrier popped up it was full scale but had a lot of hash on it. I could have missed some traffic due to the hash or when I had to leave the office. We'll see. At 0220z on the 305 & 230 Orderwires heard Wire Barb tell Mail Call that it was the SHF operator, he has a good MUX lock. He would like a Down Line Load, he's getting a port 13 & 14 incompatible. "I understand you probably are swamped with all kinds of requests and airplanes." "The other E4 that came in and left was our sister ship and she's on her way back now". "We're bringing another party in which I'm sure you got a message on but we're due to arrive in the morning about 7:30." "That would be your local time". "As far as I know that has ben sent out, my main, what I'm trying to do is make sure that you are aware of our requirements for servicing and did you have any information for me as far as parking and hotel arrangements and what not". "No sir, we've been on the road here so we, I don't have anything back saying she got it." Well we're going to be leaving the Base OPS here in just a few minutes so the best way to get a hold of us is to call the, let me give you the NAOC number back at Offutt and they will be able to give you a good phone number to be able to contact us on the airplane." "The commercial number at Offutt is 402-294-6293". "Our callsign will be SAM 95" . "OK thanks sir, bye, bye". Had to hit the road, put in tapes to record 2 hours worth of Orderwire traffic. Va. 4/7 Took the 8200 to work and got a chance to play. At 1635z heard phone call 326.0338LSB, "This is Capt. Name over at Raytheon, it's 12:30 here in Washington. A question for you, a couple of things, You're on 787? OK never mind. I'm trying to find out about the trip, I'm trying to get a hold of Col. Name, I've got some issues about the SHF not working properly yesterday. Did they ever get that resolved? Tony had called me yesterday before he left on the other bird and said you were having problems with 2702 as well. I assume you couldn't get that resolved because you had bigger problems." The Capt. was then put in touch with a Sgt. "I heard you had some stuff not working to well with the SHF yesterday. Everything?, OK. I understand you were SSMA, you weren't trying FDMA? Oh, did you? Wow, OK. The other issue was Tony had told me before he left, the other bird, that he got FDMA up. I assume he was up with Fort Meade, they were having problems with Ft. Meade, they've been having problems for over a week now. Yeah, that was an interesting thing ????? up with the same GEP. They are both going to be up FDMA then? Oh, OK. I was going to say that would do a dance(?) on the entire network then. Did you ever get FDMA up for a while? Did you ever get the 270..., I'm getting an echo here now. They did something. Did you ever get the 2702 up and operational? Did you try that? I had been working with Name over at the Pentagon yesterday after Tony told me you were having problems with that. They had a mismatch supposedly up at Fort Detrick sending it to Camp Roberts and sent it down to Fort Belvoir. Well, this was earlier yesterday afternoon I'm not sure what time you were trying it. I had a call back by about 3 o'clock that they had found a mismatch at Ft. Detrick. I was under the assumption they were having a problem as well that when they tried calling of course they were getting busy, so I had them troubleshoot it from their end as well. Do you know if they had UHF SATCOM problems also. I guess you guys were using INMARSAT. I thought 125 had INMARSAT. Oh, OK. I can imagine. Yeah, unfortunately you get the opportunity to shine (laughing) and it doesn't work. Yeah, I know, it's ashame that it has to happen at those times, at the least it leaves a bad taste in their mouths, if they had flown with you a couple of times and it's working great and then one time it doesn't work well then you go sh*t happens. So, you heading back this afternoon? Now, the one that went over with Tony that's got INMARSAT, doesn't it? 787? OK. Yeah, Tony had sent me an email telling me that they had FDMA up, that's how I know they had it up. I haven't received any response. I guess they are due over there at midnight. OK, thanks for the information, have a good one, bye." At 1648z heard phone call on 326.0177LSB. He than asked if he plugs into their circuit and goes off hook with a test circuit would they answer him. "They won't get too upset if I do that will they?" Wave Heat then told Man Fish he was calling in on it now. He didn't hear anything or get any response form "them" so he doesn't know whether they weren't answering or if they didn't hear him. He said he should be coming to him right now, he's hearing background noise. Man Fish should see Wave Heat giving an off hook. At home heard at 1925z on the 326 & 382 Orderwires Wave Heat telling Man Fish that he has all stations up looking for them on their way back. Man Fish told Wave Heat that they are headed straight across, if anything changes he'll let Wave Heat know.
